Selçuk and Ephesus are on the plain. Şirince is up on the hills. The hills look grey and menacing on this satellite image. In reality they are as lovely as it gets. The Lower Entrance of Ephesus is at 37° 56' 36.51" N 27° 20' 29.05" E, not far from the right end of the airport runway (it is a toy airport for private craft). The Upper Entrance is where the road to Virgin Mary's House makes a sharp angle. The Museum (a must-see) is at the NW corner of the highway intersection inside Selçuk, i.e. at 37° 56' 55.77" N 27° 22' 03.70" E. The bus terminal is across the highway on the East. The Sirince turn is at 37° 57' 14.13" N 27° 22' 17.05" E. The road goes under the railroad bridge, takes a sharp left at km 0.37 and veers right at km 0.66. Those are tangerine gardens you see on the right. (Continued on next page) | |
